FAQs

1. What is net clean basis processing?

All Mobil Grain producer settlements are based on actual net clean results, not estimated dockage which has been the industry standard for decades. Mobil Grain processes all grain products in identity preserved (IP) batches.  Each batch is weighed before and after processing by two legal for trade bulkweighing scales and the batch weights are automatically recorded by the computer server.  The actual net clean dockage results are automatically calculated from these totalised weights.  It is 100% fair for producer and processor alike.

2.  Why is the Mobil Grain plant transportable?

The grain industry has always been in a state of change but the changes have been accelerating in the last decade.  There are changes in markets, weather, government policies, shipping freight rates, and fuel and equipment costs.  Any of these fluctuations can affect the processing and exporting business and by being transportable Mobil Grain can adapt to unforeseen changes by moving to a more desirable location. It has been this transportable concept that has allowed Mobil Grain to discover the benefits of shortline railroads and to now end up owning and operating one.

3. What are the advantages of dealing with Mobil Grain as a producer?

a. Fairness and honesty.  We process and blend to provide the greatest value for the product and give it to the producer.  We believe in trust relationships and find great satisfaction when producers trust us.  We know trust is earned by fairness and honesty on a continuous basis.

b. Payments are based on actual net clean results, not estimates

c. No shrinkage deductions; Mobil Grain has never taken shrinkage because we believe it is unwarranted and unfair.

d. Fast payment through special contractual arrangements with financially secure blue chip export buyers.  We try to do the things that make their business work better and easier and they respond with loyalty and trust.  It's a simple formula but takes year to develop.

e. Mobil Grain has been licensed and bonded by the Canadian Grain Commission as a primary elevator since 2007.
